Although we mainly work with Monastrell here at Bodegas Bleda, we also grow other varieties that are approved by the D.O.P. Jumilla, including red grapes Tempranillo, Cabernet Sauvignon, Petit Verdot, Syrah and Grenache and the whites Sauvignon Blanc, Airén and Macabeo. Given the unique climate and soil conditions on our land, these varieties develop more intense flavours and different nuances than those grown in other areas.
Unlike the Monastrell plots, our Cabernet Sauvignon, Syrah and Sauvignon Blanc grapes are grown on trellises with drip irrigation on lands surrounding the winery in the Valle de Omblancas. This makes them less susceptible to diseases caused by excess water and allows us to make sustainable use of the region’s limited resources.
